Therefore, the monthly salary of CJI is Rs. 2,80,000/- (in words two lacks eighty thousand rupees only) and the Chief Justice of India gets a pension with Dearness Allowance of Rs. 16,80,000 per annum.
The Chief Justice of India is also awarded a gratuity of Rs. 20,00,000/- furnishing allowance f Rs. 10,000, House Rent Allowance of 24% of the basic pay and Sumptuary Allowance of Rs. 45,000/-. These are the allowances given to the Chief Justice of India. These salaries and allowances are of the Supreme Court Judges paid by the Consolidated Funds of India.
The other Judges of the Supreme Court get a monthly salary of Rs. 2,50,000/- and a pension with Dearness Allowance of Rs. 15,00,000/- per annum.
Post Retirement Benefits
According to the Supreme Court Judges (Salaries and Conditions of Service) Act, 1958, the Chief Justice of India is entitled to lifetime services for a housekeeper, a chauffeur and a secretarial assistant for a calendar year. These post-retirement benefits of the amendment made in the Supreme Court Judges (Salaries and Conditions of Service) Act, 1958 are applicable to all recently retired Supreme Court Judges and living former CJIs.
